Economist Brings New Dimension to Forensic & Litigation Advisory Practice
ANNAPOLIS, Md., May 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- FTI Consulting, Inc.
(NYSE: FCN), the premier national provider of turnaround, bankruptcy and
litigation-related consulting services, today announced that David A. Gulley,
Ph.D., has been appointed a director in its New York Forensic & Litigation
Advisory practice. With 25 years of economic research and business consulting
experience, Dr. Gulley specializes in assessing economic damages, and is
considered one of the leaders in the areas of event analysis and solvency.
"Many events today are driven by economics, and we were finding that many
of our clients require an economist's analysis instead of or in addition to an
accountant's analysis," said Jack Dunn, FTI's chairman and chief executive
officer. "David brings this new dimension to our current areas of expertise
and expands our reach into new areas. We expect that he will be a valuable
asset to our clients and to our firm."
In the commercial litigation arena, Dr. Gulley has provided advice or
expert testimony on intellectual property matters, including damages,
licensing, piracy, and economic benefits; commercial contracts damages;
antitrust issues; and securities litigation issues, including financial
viability and performance and shareholder damages. He has special expertise
in preparing forensic assessments of damages incurred during long historic
periods and episodes of monetary chaos. Dr. Gulley also has extensive
experience in the metals and energy industries, and has written extensively on
gold and other metals markets for trade and policy journals around the world.
"David is highly experienced in expert financial testimony, securities
litigation, intellectual property issues and statistical analysis," noted
Stewart Kahn, president and chief operating officer of FTI. "His skill set
fits perfectly with our new practice initiatives in intellectual property,
regulatory consulting, and electronic evidence, and gives us more depth in the
securities litigation practice."
Prior to joining FTI, Dr. Gulley was a director and senior economist at
PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he advised Fortune 500 companies on emerging
strategic business issues and financial commodity market matters. Prior to
joining PwC, he was dean of London's American University's school of business
and chief economist and international manager of the World Gold Council.
Dr. Gulley began his career with a National Science Foundation fellowship
at the University of Denver, and taught at the State University of New York
and later at Columbia, where he continues to lecture and teach in an adjunct
capacity. He was a professor and Fulbright Scholar at the Ecole Nationale
Superieur des Mines de Paris.
Commenting on his decision to join FTI, Dr. Gulley stated, "I am very
excited about the opportunity to join a firm that features the premier group
of experts in the areas of troubled company consulting and dispute resolution.
I am looking forward to using my economic expertise to augment FTI's
traditional forensic consulting business as well as to help build the
company's new practice areas."
Dr. Gulley holds a Ph.D. in economics, a master's degree in mathematics
and a bachelor's degree in engineering mathematics from the Colorado School of
Mines.
