WILKES-BARRE, Pa., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Keystone Pipeline Services, Inc.,
has been awarded a multi-million dollar service contract for work in two of
Virginia Natural Gas Inc.'s service areas. The agreement, which makes
Keystone the exclusive installer of new mains and service lines in Virginia
Natural Gas's Hanover County and Norfolk-Chesapeake service areas, was
completed last week.
Keystone Pipeline Services, Inc., is a subsidiary of PG Energy Services
Inc. and Pennsylvania Enterprises, Inc. (PEI) (NYSE: PNT), of Wilkes-Barre.
"This is really good news for us," said George J. Green, Vice President of
Keystone Pipeline Services, Inc. "We won the contract through competitive
bidding and have begun the process of reassigning and recruiting crews for
work in this booming housing market around Norfolk and Richmond."
Virginia Natural Gas, Inc. (VNG) provides natural gas service to over
233,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Southeastern
Virginia. The company is based in Norfolk and serves customers through
offices in Suffolk, Norfolk, Newport News and Ashland. Virginia Natural Gas
is a subsidiary of Consolidated Natural Gas Company of Pittsburgh.
Due to growth in the Tidewater area of Virginia, VNG is among the nation's
fastest growing natural gas distribution companies. Keystone will assist VNG
with this growth by installing the mains and customer-connection lines that
will service new customers.
The Keystone crews that will work on VNG projects will be based in
Keystone's office in Mechanicsville, Va. Keystone also operates field offices
in Pennsylvania, Florida, Connecticut and Illinois.
Keystone, formerly known as Ford, Bacon & Davis Sealants Inc., is a
35-year-old company that specializes in installing and maintaining water and
natural gas pipelines and cable conduits. It recently expanded its list of
specialty services to include the installation of fiber optic cable.
Mr. Green said the VNG contract will not affect Keystone's involvement in
a project that is installing 140 miles of fiber optic cable in the Washington,
D.C., metropolitan area.
PEI is a holding company with regulated and non-regulated subsidiaries.
The regulated group consists of PG Energy and its subsidiary, Honesdale Gas
Company. The non-regulated group consists of PEI Power Corporation, Theta
Land Corporation and PG Energy Services Inc.
