New Application Allows MSOs to Open More Options for Customers to
Pay Bills and Update Accounts
NEW ORLEANS, (The National Show), May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global
billing and customer care solutions provider CSG Systems (Nasdaq: CSGS) and
Navic Networks today announced the availability of a jointly designed and
developed interactive customer care application, delivered to digital cable
subscribers through the digital set-top box.

The new Interactive Customer Care (iCC) application will enable digital
cable subscribers to use their existing remote controls and digital set-top
boxes to review their current account balance, make payments and upgrade
programming.
In addition, iCC enables customers of Multiple System Operators (MSOs) to
access their account through the digital set-top box to review current account
balance, pay a bill and evaluate and purchase new programming packages.
Customers can also establish recurring payments using electronic funds
transfer (EFT) from checking or savings accounts or make a one-time payment
using a credit card.
"This partnership enables CSG to not only be on the leading edge of
digital cable technologies, but also to offer a wider variety of cost-
effective ways for our customers to interact with their customers," said
Dwayne Ruffin, vice president of broadband services product management for CSG
Systems. "Now our solutions reach every subscriber touch-point -- the
statement, online, through the call center and through the set-top box,
enabling digital cable subscribers to conduct business with their service
provider on their terms."
In addition to paying bills, customers can also use the iCC application to
upgrade their digital cable service to premium programming, on-demand content
and promotional packages without contacting the call center. By streamlining
the upgrade process, MSOs will minimize acquisition and marketing expenses.
"In my past experience as an operator, routine account inquiries
constitute a huge percentage of traffic to call centers. The iCC application
provides customers with easy access to their accounts on their terms," said
Frank Anthony, chief executive officer of Navic Networks. "With the volume of
unprofitable calls reduced, call center representatives are then able to focus
on developing higher-level, consultative relationships with customers and give
themselves more time to upsell additional services and promote retention."
The real-time application was developed from a combination of Navic's
N-Band -- a powerful platform for creating and deploying interactive
television applications and CSG's core customer care and billing engine for
broadband and direct broadcast services providers, CSG CCS(R).
