Kroger Reaches Tentative Agreements to Sell 12 Cala Foods and Bell Markets Stores in San Francisco Bay Area

    CINCINNATI, May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR)
today said it has reached a tentative agreement to sell 12 Cala Foods and
Bell Markets stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. The stores are part of
the Company's Ralphs Supermarkets Division, based in Los Angeles, CA.
    The transaction, which is subject to certain customary conditions, is
expected to close within 120 days. Financial terms were not disclosed.
    DeLano Retail Partners has agreed to purchase the 12 locations.
    "The sale of these stores is a difficult, but necessary, step toward
making Ralphs more competitive," said Dave Hirz, Ralphs president. "We
intend to work closely with DeLano Retail Partners to ensure a smooth
transition for our customers and Associates at these locations."
    The stores being sold to DeLano Retail Partners are located at the
following addresses:
    6333 Geary Blvd., San Francisco     4201 18th St., San Francisco
    1095 Hyde Park, San Francisco       1245 So. Van Ness, San Francisco
    Tiburon Hwy & Blackfield, Tiburon   1535 S. Novato Blvd., Novato
    2040 Sir Francis Drake, Fairfax     2045 Novato Blvd., Novato
    207 Flamingo Road, Mill Valley      1599 Tiburon Blvd., Tiburon
    1390 Silver Ave., San Francisco     3950 24th St., San Francisco
