DALLAS, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Voyager Expanded Learning(R) announced
today it has completed and released the Summary of Effectiveness of its
Reading Solutions, Voyager Universal Literacy System(R), Voyager
Passport(TM) and Passport Reading Journeys.(TM) The Summary of
Effectiveness contains information about clinical studies, independent
evaluations, district and school profiles and features recipients of the
Voyager Founder's Award.
Several districts in the report demonstrated unprecedented gains after
using Voyager programs. They include Richmond City Public Schools,
Virginia; Oxford City Schools, Alabama; Lancaster Independent School
District, Texas; Pickens County Public Schools, Alabama and Manatee County
Public Schools, Florida.
"We're taking great responsibility for student achievement, and I'm
proud of the district for that," says Dr. Deborah Jewell-Sherman,
superintendent, Richmond Public Schools and Voyager Founder's Award
recipient. "Voyager is an important partner in that effort."
The report summarizes the impact Voyager programs are having in schools
across the country, where students enrolled in Voyager reading programs are
quickly becoming better readers. A greater percentage of these students are
passing their state tests, and although most are from low-income,
high-poverty urban schools, they are closing the achievement gap with the
national average and with their more affluent peers.
In addition, students with diverse needs receiving services such as
special education and limited English proficiency support are surpassing
the expectations of their teachers and parents, and they are learning to
read.
