AURORA, Colo., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Along with the warm weather and
summer, comes the peak of the moving season. Only 21 percent of those making
a move this summer will use the services of traditional, professional movers.
The other 79 percent of the relocating families and students will handle it
themselves. The key to a successful and less stressful move is to first get
organized.
The packaging and shipping professionals at the Pak Mail Centers across
the nation offer some helpful tips to make the move as smooth as possible.
* Pack your valuables, like jewelry, important documents, irreplaceable
photos and videos, separately and take them with you.
* Use "Do Not Pack" and "Fragile" labels accordingly. If you use a
professional mover, they will pack everything unless it is marked "Do
Not Pack." Your valuable items will be additionally protected by using
the "Fragile" label.
* Use boxes that are sturdy and not too large. Heavy items like kitchen
appliances and dishes should be packed in smaller, manageable boxes
with ample room for packaging materials.
* Guard glass framed pictures and artwork using a protective glass tape
and bubble wrap.
* Use bubble or foam wrap instead of newspaper.
* Do not pack flammable items like gasoline, lighter fluid and paint. It
can get very hot in summer and an explosion could occur.
* Allow at least two weeks to pack so you don't have to rush at the last
minute.
* Pak Mail carries a full line of quality packing materials and friendly,
free advice to help the move go smoothly. Proper packaging materials
save time and decrease the possibility of damage.
