WARRENDALE, Pa., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- American Eagle Outfitters, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AEOS) today announced total sales for the four fiscal weeks ended
May 1, 1999 increased 35.2% to $45.5 million from $33.7 million for the four
week period ended May 2, 1998. Comparable sales for the 1999 period were up
16.9% compared to the corresponding four week period last year.
Sales for the thirteen weeks ended May 1, 1999 were $145.4 million
compared to the $99.7 million for the thirteen week period last year, an
increase of 45.9%. Comparable store sales for the thirteen weeks ended May 1,
1999 increased 27.5% compared to the corresponding thirteen week period ended
May 2, 1998.
