The National Pit Crew Championship Powered by Tyson Gets Even More Exciting
MOORESVILLE, N.C., May 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyson Foods (NYSE: TSN)
and the Crew Chief Club(R) announced today that four lucky teams, out of the
38 teams competing at the National Pit Crew Championship Powered by Tyson,
will have the chance to win a $500,000 cash prize in the final bonus round,
the "Powered by Tyson Pit Stop." The competition is scheduled for May 9, 2005
from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Pit Instruction and Training (PIT) facility in
Mooresville, North Carolina.
"Tyson is certainly making this competition more exciting and is adding
another reason for fans to cheer for their favorite pit crew," said Larry
McReynolds, FOX Sports television analyst and legendary crew chief. "The
qualified teams will go head-to-head to beat the fastest pit stop from the
qualifying and competition rounds, and demonstrate which is the best team."
The first and second place teams, the fastest non-winning team from round
three, as well as a wildcard team chosen at random by a Tyson representative,
will qualify to compete in the bonus round. The winning pit stop time needs
to be equal to or greater than one second faster than any other time posted in
the qualifying rounds and the competition, with the same rules and penalties
being enforced. The fastest team to break the one second barrier will walk
away with $500,000. The "Powered by Tyson Pit Stop" will take place after the
winner of the competition is determined.
"The 'Powered by Tyson Pit Stop' is the last round of the National Pit
Crew Championship Powered by Tyson, and we know it will boost the level of
competition among the pit crews," said Bob Corscadden, Tyson's senior vice
president and chief marketing officer. "They are the heroes this night, and
Tyson Foods is eager to elevate their stature and hopefully line one team's
pockets with a cool half million bucks."
The National Pit Crew Championship Powered by Tyson will have teams
competing based on the skills that set them apart on race day, allowing their
performance to separate from their drivers' for just one night. The
competition will be televised on the SPEED Channel on August 6, 2005 at
8:00 p.m. Tickets for the event are free, and can be picked up in advance at
PIT on 156 Byers Creek Road in Mooresville; the Mooresville Convention &
Visitors Bureau on 265 North Main Street in Mooresville; and the North
Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame on 119 Knob Hill Road, Lakeside Park in
Mooresville. While tickets are free, attendees are encouraged to make a
monetary donation to benefit Second Harvest(R) and The Victory Junction Gang
Camp. Donations are being accepted at all ticket locations. In order to make
access in and out of the event easy, special parking lots have been designated
with shuttles running continually on May 9th.
