Significantly Expands Business Development and Scientific Capabilities

Bioject Medical Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: BJCT), a leading developer of
needle-free drug delivery systems, announced today the hiring of two senior
level executives. Chris Pugh has been named Vice President, Business
Development and Eric Mishkin, Ph.D., has been named Senior Vice President and
Chief Scientific Officer.
Chris Pugh has more than ten years of product and business development
experience. Most recently, he was Director of Business Development for
Guilford Pharmaceuticals. Prior to Guilford, Mr. Pugh was Project Manager for
the Vaccine Division of Merck & Co., and has been employed as Group Product
Manager at SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline). Mr. Pugh holds a CNAA
Master of Science degree in Biotechnology which included bench research at the
University of Cambridge (Institute of Biotechnology). His undergraduate
degree is a joint B.Sc. degree in Zoology and Psychology from University
College Swan, United Kingdom.

Eric Mishkin, Ph.D., has twenty-five years of experience in immunology
research and microbiology. His recent position was Director of Immunology
Research at Wyeth-Ayerst. Prior to Wyeth-Ayerst, Dr. Mishkin was the
Principal Research Immunologist for Viral Vaccine Immunobiology. He has also
been employed as the Principal Research Immunologist and a Research
Microbiologist for the Department of Viral Vaccine Research and Development,
Lederle-Praxis Biologicals in Pearl River, New York. Dr. Mishkin holds a
Ph.D. in Parasitology and a M.S. degree in Zoology from the University of
Connecticut and a B.A. degree in Biology from Hofstra University.

broaden the Company's clinical research capabilities into new relevant

Mr. Pugh and Dr. Mishkin will be based in Bedminster, New Jersey, at
Bioject's new corporate office which opened in April 2002. The Company's
manufacturing and engineering operations will remain in Portland, Oregon.
