Federal-Mogul Chairman Presents Safety Awards to Top-Performing Plants

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal-Mogul Corporation
recognized 18 of its global manufacturing plants for excellence in safety
performance.

    Frank Macher, chairman and chief executive officer, presented each
facility with the Chairman's Safety Excellence Award for achieving an
outstanding safety record in 2002, as determined by Federal-Mogul's corporate
environmental health and safety team.
    "We are fully committed to creating a culture where accidents and employee
injuries are unacceptable," Macher said.  "Employees are our most valuable
asset; their health and safety is paramount.  These safety awards are given in
recognition of employees at these facilities who are clearly making safety a
number-one priority."
    Macher presented plant managers of the winning facilities with the safety
awards at Federal-Mogul's annual global leadership conference in Atlanta,
Georgia, on May 6.
    Federal-Mogul operates 120 manufacturing facilities worldwide.  Those
acknowledged for safety performance include six in North America, six in
Europe, and six in Mexico and the Asia Pacific region.  The 18 facilities
chosen for the Chairman's Safety Excellence Award are:

    *  Van Wert, Ohio -- manufacturer of National(R) oil seals

    *  Cuorgne, Italy -- manufacturer of engine bearings
    *  Druento, Italy -- manufacturer of Champion(R) wiper blades
    *  Gorzyce, Poland -- manufacturer of pistons and piston pins
    *  Nuremberg, Germany -- manufacturer of pistons
