MELROSE PARK, Ill., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Catering to the seasonal tastes
of their customers, the Chicago-area's leading food retailer will make unique
grilled seafood recipes available to its customers.
With summers approach and fresh seafood in plentiful supply, Jewel-Osco
Pier 14 Seafood handlers will demonstrate and prepare menu plans ranging from
quick-and-easy to intricate-and-exotic at their counters located at Jewel-Osco
stores in Chicagoland.
The free "Seafood on the Grill" classes will take place on May 21 from
7:30 to 9 p.m., with free recipe samples to be served. Complimentary
refreshments will also be available.
"Not only do our seafood experts share their culinary experience with our
customers, they also answer customers' questions on seafood preparation," said
Mike Spinozzi, vice president of meat and Farmstand Merchandising. "The
classes are always a lot of fun and people really enjoy hearing new menu
ideas."
Featured recipes scheduled for demonstration at the upcoming class include
grilled salmon with creamy Dijon sauce, grilled shrimp and tuna, and an
assortment of marinade sauces such as honey ginger and lime garlic.
Seafood cooking classes offered by Jewel-Osco in 1997 drew more than 6,000
eager participants. As part of Jewel-Osco's continuing customer commitment,
the classes are designed to educate consumers on how to prepare seafood items
on the grill, broaden their culinary repertoire, and answer questions
concerning seafood preparation.
In addition to learning innovative seafood recipes and hints on
preparation, participants will also be eligible for raffle prizes and everyone
will receive money-saving seafood coupons. A list of participating stores
follows.
Jewel-Osco operates 188 stores in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Of those, 153 are in combination with Osco Drug. The company also operates 79
stand along Osco Drug stores in Chicagoland and Metropolitan Milwaukee.
