announced today that Michael L. Kessler has joined the Firm's Washington
office as Of Counsel in its energy practice.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Kessler, 50, was of counsel at Troutman
Sanders in Washington. He is a former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
(FERC) counsel and has served as Vice President and General Counsel at
American Energy Solutions, Inc. His practice includes providing advice and
counsel to regional transmission organizations with respect to both
operational and market matters, including representation in such matters
before the FERC. Mr. Kessler's practice also includes due diligence, contract
review and negotiation, including commodity sales, operation and maintenance,
transmission, and interconnection service agreements, advice regarding deal
structure and representation before federal and state regulatory agencies on
behalf of energy project developers. In addition, Mr. Kessler represents
electric utilities and other entities with respect to government utility asset
privatizations.
Mr. Kessler received his B.A. from Brown University in 1975 and earned his
J.D. from the University of Vermont, cum laude, in 1980. Mr. Kessler is a
member of the DC Bar and the Energy Bar Association.
