Next Generation Titles Exhibited at Industry Trade Show
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The 3DO Company
(Nasdaq: THDO) today announced their lineup for the Electronic Entertainment
Expo (E3), May 11-13, 2000 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The
impressive multi-platform lineup pushes the boundaries of gaming for the PC,
the PlayStation(R) 2 computer entertainment system, the PlayStation(R) game
console, the Nintendo(R) 64 game system, and the Game Boy(R) Color.
"This E3 is very exciting for us because we're introducing the biggest
Might and Magic(R) title to date as well as multiple titles in our hottest
brands for the highly anticipated PlayStation 2 computer entertainment
system," said Trip Hawkins, chairman and CEO of The 3DO Company. "In
addition, we are proud to introduce new brands like World Destruction
League(TM) to our lineup. We are bringing the same success we have achieved
on the PC, the PlayStation game console, and the Nintendo 64 to the next
generation of gaming."
3DO's lineup includes:
Legends of Might and Magic(TM): (PC) The Legends of Might and Magic game
revolutionizes the award-winning Might and Magic franchise with Internet
capability, a new "true 3D" cutting-edge gaming engine, and innovative game
play. In the tradition of all Might and Magic games, Legends of Might and
Magic will bring to life a compelling story with vivid graphics, detailed
gameplay, and advanced character development.
Army Men(TM) -- Sarge's Heroes(TM) 2: (PlayStation 2*, PlayStation,
Nintendo 64) The boys are back and ready to do battle! Sarge and the Bravo
Company Commandos managed to foil the Tan Army's first assault, but do they
have what it takes this time? General Plastro has teamed up with Brigitte
Bleu, a diabolically treacherous Blue Spy, to destroy the Green Nation once
and for all. The adventure continues as Sarge and Vikki fight their way over
pool tables, under beds, and across desktops to the final showdown against
Plastro and his troops. Prepare for another gigantic war!
Army Men(TM) -- Air Attack(TM) 2: (PlayStation 2*, PlayStation) Army Men
Air Attack 2 is a fast and furious game of toy helicopter-based combat set in
the Army Men universe. It combines the trigger-twitching action of
shooter-style gameplay with more strategic environment interaction via the
winch mechanic. Continuing the classic struggle between the Green and Tan
armies, the heroic Captain Blade and his Alpha Wolf Battalion once again take
to the skies with an onslaught of new missions, deeper game play, stunning
cinematics and more character interaction than ever before.
Warriors of Might and Magic(TM): (PlayStation 2*, PlayStation, PC) The
Warriors of Might and Magic game infuses the award-winning Might and Magic
franchise with intense hand-to-hand combat, a new, intuitive gameplay
interface, awe-inspiring lighting and special effects, and an innovative new
fighting system. In the tradition of all Might and Magic games, Warriors of
Might and Magic will bring to life a compelling story with vivid graphics,
streamlined gameplay, intriguing characters and NPCs, and rewarding character
development.
World Destruction League: Thunder Tanks(TM): (PlayStation 2*, PlayStation)
World Destruction League: Thunder Tanks is the ultimate in spectacle
entertainment. It's an "over the top" battle-tournament where the contenders
fight it out using tanks. This mega-event is broadcast on a television
network throughout its post-apocalyptic society. The tournaments take place
in battle-stages at famous locations all around the world. While the WDL(TM)
has outrageous attitude and over-done action, the competitors take it very
seriously...and they'll stop at destroying nothing in order to win the
championship title.
Heroes(TM) Chronicles: (PC) The award-winning game play of the Heroes
strategy series has won over thousands of fans worldwide since its launch in
1995. Now, New World Computing brings that same magic to a broader audience
with Heroes Chronicles, a series of 4 episodic, easily accessible strategy
games in which a single character named Tarnum finds himself sent on a
succession of quests in order to earn redemption from the gods. Tarnum's
adventures carry him to far-flung lands, from the realms of Air and Water and
woodland elven lairs to the very edges of the Underworld.
Army Men -- Air Combat(TM): (Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color) Continuing the
popular saga in the epic battles between the Green and Tan plastic soldiers,
Army Men -- Air Combat takes combat to the skies with the vaunted Air Cavalry.
An all-new hero "Captain" leads the Air Cavalry in a new series of campaigns
where they join up with Sarge, the familiar hero from the land-based Army Men
games. Together they work in the air, on the ground, and over the sea in an
effort to rescue POWs, to extract wounded allies, to sabotage enemy plans, and
most importantly, to fight the evil Tan nemesis.
In addition, 3DO will be showcasing Army Men 2, the sequel to the
best-selling hand-held game, and Gobs of Games(TM), a collection of classic
games geared for younger children, for the Game Boy Color.
