Indrema and NVIDIA Share Plans to Bring Superior 3D Graphics to First
Linux-Based Console
LOS ANGELES, ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO (E3), May 11 /PRNewswire/ --
Indrema Corporation, the open source digital entertainment company, today
announced its selection of the NVIDIA (Nasdaq: NVDA) future-generation
graphics processing unit (GPU) as the standard GPU in the Indrema L600
Entertainment System. NVIDIA has a track record of delivering a new product
every season, offering dramatically superior 3D performance for L600 game
titles.
The selection of NVIDIA was the result of Indrema's extensive evaluations
of all high-end GPU suppliers. Indrema selected the company based on its
outstanding performance in several graphics categories ranging from 3D
rendering to HDTV display.
"We are very impressed by the power and feature set that NVIDIA has been
able to offer the graphics market, and we are confident that their family of
GPUs will help make the Indrema L600 the gaming performance leader," says
Indrema CEO, John Gildred. "It is a truly awesome graphics processor for 3D
and has very advanced HDTV capabilities. The L600 is going to squeeze every
drop of performance out of NVIDIA's GPUs, as it has an unquenchable thirst for
graphics power."
The Indrema Entertainment System has a unique modular graphics subsystem,
where the user can swap out the GPU for the next generation technology. The
"GPU Slide Bay" offers an inexpensive alternative to purchasing an entire next
generation game console. The L600 console will ship NVIDIA's future generation
GPU, but can be replaced by subsequent GPU-based accelerators from NVIDIA or
other vendors as new cards become available. Indrema plans to exhibit a
pre-production L600 unit in late Summer 2000.
