COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Veteran banker William R. Hartman
was named chief executive officer of Bank One in Ohio today. Hartman, 52, has
served in leadership positions for Bank One in Kentucky for nine years,
including the last four years as CEO of Bank One, Kentucky.
"Bill Hartman is a seasoned financial services professional who has spent
nearly 30 years serving customers exceptionally well," said Executive Vice
President Walter Watkins, Jr., whose responsibilities include management of
Bank One's Kentucky and Ohio markets. "Our important and dynamic Ohio markets
will benefit from Bill's intimate knowledge of Bank One, its products and its
customers.
"Bill also exemplifies Bank One's long-term commitment to civic leadership
and volunteerism in our communities," Watkins said. "We know that when we

Hartman has led numerous arts, economic development and social service
organizations in Louisville and other Kentucky cities. He is the immediate
past chairman of Greater Louisville, Inc., the city's combined Chamber of
Commerce and Economic Development Partnership. He also served as chair of the
2000 campaign for the Louisville Fund for the Arts.
He replaces Beth E. Mooney, who announced she was leaving the company last
month.

Hartman joined Bank One in 1990 as president of Bank One in Dayton. He
became part of the company's Kentucky leadership team a year later, serving in
several roles including president of Bank One in Lexington before becoming
state CEO.
Prior to joining Bank One, Hartman was executive vice-president of
CoreStates Hamilton Bank, where he was responsible for all large corporate,
middle market and commercial real estate business in seven counties of
Pennsylvania. Hartman joined Hamilton Bank in 1977.
He began his banking career in 1971 with Cumberland County National Bank
and Union Bank and Trust Company.
He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Clarion
University in Clarion, Pennsylvania and completed the Stonier Graduate School
of Banking management program.
