Jewel-Osco Executives Return to the Classroom

MELROSE PARK, Ill., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Always eager to learn more
about the communities it serves, two top-executives from the leading Chicago
food and drug retailer are returning to school, and will be sent directly to
the principal's office.
Doing their part for the benefit of area schools, Jewel-Osco chief-
executive officer Greg Josefowicz, and Ertharin Cousin Moore, vice-president
of government and community affairs, will serve as "Principal for a Day" at
two Chicago public schools on May 19.
In association with "Working in the Schools" -- a non-profit organization
dedicated to promoting the educational development of children in urban,
public schools -- the two Jewel-Osco executives will better understand
challenges facing inner city schools.
Josefowicz and Cousin Moore, along with 450 business leaders and local
celebrities participating in the program, will work with principals and
teachers.
Josefowicz and Cousin Moore said they are both excited to be part of the
program, and will stress to their students that education is key to unlocking
a successful future.
"By spending a day with students, and sharing in their hopes and dreams, I
want to emphasize how important it is to be serious about school," Josefowicz
said. "We want area schools and students to know that Jewel-Osco supports
their academic endeavors."

college credit, and a guaranteed position upon graduation.
Cousin Moore said participation in -- and sponsorship of -- creative
educational programs like P.R.I.D.E. is one of the many ways Jewel-Osco is
helping area communities.
"Being a principal for a day provides Jewel-Osco with terrific insight as
to how we can further direct our experience and resources in helping area
school-children," Cousin Moore said. "We are proud of the partnership Jewel-
Osco is building with Chicago Public Schools through P.R.I.D.E. and `Principal
for a Day.'"
