Bruce Boxleitner, Cindy Morgan, Steven Lisberger and Richard Taylor
Make Special Guest Appearances at E3 2003 Wednesday, May 14
From 2 to 4 p.m. at Buena Vista Games' Booth, Number 924, South Hall
BURBANK, Calif., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Buena Vista Interactive, the core
games publishing label of Buena Vista Games, Inc., today announced that it is
reuniting the talent from TRON(R), the groundbreaking science fiction motion
picture, in the upcoming TRON 2.0 PC title. Bruce Boxleitner is voicing the
character he created in the movie, Alan Bradley, while Cindy Morgan, who
stared as Lora in the film, is portraying Ma3a (mah-THREE-ah), an artificial
intelligence program. Steven Lisberger, director, story and screenplay
writer, and Richard Taylor, visual and computer effects supervisor, are
participating in the project scheduled for release Aug. 26. All will make a
special appearance at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) on
Wednesday, May 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Buena Vista Games' booth, number 924,
South Hall. E3 attendees can meet with the team first-hand and receive an
autographed TRON 2.0 poster.
"I'm excited and blown away with TRON 2.0," said Lisberger. "It's great
to see the TRON universe come to life again in a completely new way through
the power of a state-of-the-art computer game."
Also lending their talent to TRON 2.0 are Syd Mead, renowned conceptual
artist, and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos. Mead, famous for his legendary design
contributions to innovative films such as TRON, Blade Runner and Aliens,
updated the light cycle seen in the title. Romijn-Stamos, star of the X-Men 2
film and supermodel who has graced numerous magazine covers, including Sports
Illustrated swimsuit issue, Victoria's Secret and Maxim, is providing the
voice of Mercury, the undefeated champion light cycle racer who teams up with
lead character Jet Bradley to combat corruption in the computer world.
Alan Bradley, father of Jet Bradley, and Ma3a play major roles in the
storyline of the game. Following Alan's disappearance under mysterious
circumstances, the younger Bradley, a talented programmer, goes in search of
his father, only to be pulled into cyberspace by Ma3a, an artificial
intelligence program created by the elder Bradley. As players progress
through more than 30 enormous levels of gameplay, they will rely on Ma3a's
assistance to successfully navigate cyberspace and subvert evil forces
planning to take over the world's computer systems by using Alan's
digitization technology.
In development by critically acclaimed Monolith Productions, TRON 2.0 is
an action-packed story-driven title inspired by TRON. The game takes place in
present day, approximately 20 years after the events of the film. Playing as
Jet Bradley, gamers are digitized into an unknown environment and will race on
light cycles, battle corruption both inside and outside of the computer world,
and explore locations including the Internet Hub, Firewall, Corrupted Server
and Light Cycle Game Grid. Buena Vista Interactive, Buena Vista Games' high-
profile interactive entertainment label, is publishing TRON 2.0.
"Twenty years ago, TRON redefined special effects seen in film and
inspired the computer generated image generation," said Bob Picunko, director
of marketing, Buena Vista Interactive. "Today, TRON 2.0 is taking first-
person action games to a new level with unbelievable graphics and a unique
visual style. It's exciting to reunite members of the original cast and crew,
Bruce Boxleitner, Cindy Morgan, Steven Lisberger, Richard Taylor and Syd Mead,
to work on another breakthrough project, the next chapter in the TRON
franchise."
