Protein Polymer to Present at Techvest's Annual European 'Global Opportunities In Biotech' Conference

    SAN DIEGO, May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Protein Polymer Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PPTI), today announced
that J. Thomas Parmeter, PPTI's President, will present a Company update at
the Techvest Annual European Conference on Global Opportunities in Biotech.
Mr. Parmeter's presentation will focus on the progress in the development and
testing of PPTI's injectable self-assembling silk-elastin hydrogel
formulations for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence, and for
the treatment of dermal contour deficiencies (facial lines, wrinkles, and
scars).  Both of these products are in FDA-approved clinical trials.  He will
also comment on progress in the development of new applications based on the
Company's cross-linked adhesive hydrogels targeted on the repair of spinal
discs, and as tissue adhesives and sealants.
    The Techvest Conference, to be held May 19 and 20th in Amsterdam, has
become a premier event in the field of tissue repair and regeneration, with
presentations by more than 50 companies, as well as experts from the medical
and scientific community.  The forum provides an opportunity for U.S.
biotechnology companies to meet with representatives of the European financial
community and potential biomedical commercialization partners.  PPTI has
presented at four previous Techvest tissue engineering conferences in both the
U.S. and Europe.
