Tournament to Present Breakthrough, High Performance Platform for Home
Networking Over TV Coaxial Cable
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Coaxsys, Inc. a new provider of
home networking systems via common cable TV-style coax wiring, today announced
that it will host an online Unreal(R) Tournament featuring the world famous,
CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League Champion of the Year),
Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles. The tournament will
showcase Coaxsys' groundbreaking Ethernet-rivaling home network solution that
leverages existing TV coaxial cable. Coaxsys and Fatal1ty will be in booth
number 6851 in Kentia Hall May 14 - 16, 2003. All E3 attendees and exhibitors
and encouraged to visit to booth to participate. Gaming takes place each day
from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Fatal1ty has been ranked the number one seed with CPL for three years
straight, has been featured in dozens of articles and, according to a recent
article in Shift magazine, "In the annals of videogames, Kansas City's
Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel is a bona fide superstar."
Coaxsys will be introducing the Pure Speed(TM) network in their booth at
E3. Pure Speed is a first-of-a-kind, coax-based solution that allows users
with little or no technical know-how to install a high-speed network in
minutes and for substantially less money than other high-speed networking
solutions. When launched in early Q3 2003, Coaxsys will deliver the industry's
fastest home network solution with throughput rated at 100 mb/sec. The Pure
Speed network will provide true 10/100 Ethernet over a home's existing coaxial
cable.
"Pure Speed is a revolutionary home networking solution that outperforms
today's wireless, telephone, or power-line networks and we feel that some of
the first adopters of this remarkable technology will be online gamers," said
Michael D'Addio, President and CEO of Coaxsys, Inc. "To demonstrate the true
performance capabilities of Pure Speed, we decided to host a live online
Unreal tournament and what better way to put it to the test than by hiring the
world champion of Unreal."
Pure Speed is ideal for anyone wants to enjoy the benefits of high-speed,
next generation consumer electronics and appliances -- without the spending
the time and money to install specialized Category 5 cable. The consumer
market is at the front-end of a boom in connected consumer appliances,
including PC-centric video servers, personal video recorders (PVRs), Video on
Demand, and multi-player Internet gaming using either a PC or Microsoft's XBOX
LIVE(R) or Sony's PlayStation Online(R).
As of 1999 NCTA (National Cable Television Association) and Nielsen Media
research estimated that 96.6% of America's television homes are wired for
cable.
