America's Army Video Game on DAGGERS Soldier-Worn Embedded Training Systems
Demonstrates Potential of Embedded Training for U.S. Military
LOS ANGELES, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Quantum3D(R), Inc., a leading provider
of open architecture, realtime 3D visual computing solutions for the Visual
Simulation and Training (VST) and Embedded Visual Computing (EVC) markets,
announced today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) that it is
demonstrating the America's Army(TM) video game on the Company's DAGGERS
soldier-worn synthetic environment training prototype system at the U.S.
Army's E3 Booth (No. 1080, South Hall).

"Running America's Army on the DAGGERS system provides a great test bed
for exploring how we can incorporate game technology into embedded training,
said Colonel Casey Wardynski, America's Army Project Director. "We look
forward to working with Quantum3D as we explore how video game techniques and
technology, coupled with products like DAGGERS and Thermite will enable the
Army to greatly enhance our soldiers' skills, tactics and mission
effectiveness."
Developed as part of a research program commissioned by the U.S. Army
Research, Development and Engineering Command's (RDECOM) Embedded Training for
Dismounted Soldier (ETDS) Science and Technology Objective (STO), the
Quantum3D Distributed Advanced Graphics Generator and Embedded Rehearsal
System (DAGGERS) is a high-performance soldier-worn embedded training system
for dismounted infantry training research. DAGGERS incorporates a number of
advanced technologies including Thermite(TM), Quantum3D's new Tactical Visual
Computer, immersive helmet mounted displays, motion trackers, realtime image
generation software, and OneSAF interoperability, all interconnected
seamlessly via a wireless communications fabric. The goal of DAGGERS is to
provide dismounted infantry soldiers, squads, and platoons with the ability to
perform training and mission rehearsal exercises "anywhere and anytime."
"Working with RDECOM and the America's Army team is a great opportunity to
expand our efforts in embedded training systems," said Ross Q. Smith,
Quantum3D co-founder and president. "The DAGGERS system as a complete hardware
and software package could ultimately create a powerful training tool for
soldiers in the field, allowing them to conduct embedded training exercises
with distributed combined forces around the globe. Demonstrating America's
Army at E3 exemplifies the type of realism and capabilities that are now
enabled by DAGGERS and its underlying Thermite system."
About America's Army
America's Army is a realistic computer game providing civilians with an
inside perspective and a virtual role in today's premiere land force, the U.S.
Army. America's Army players experience soldiering in a state-of-the-art
manner via the game's support for two separate simulations: Soldiers, a
role-playing portion in which players navigate life's challenges to achieve
goals, and a first-person action game, called Operations. For more
