Thumbworks Continues to Introduce Big Brands to BREW(TM)-Enabled Handsets

New BREW-based Applications Built for Honda, Jeep and Wilson Strengthen the
Firm's Reputation as a Marketing Leader in Wireless Entertainment

    TUSTIN, Calif., E3, May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Thumbworks(TM), a
leading publisher of branded mobile entertainment, today announced several new
additions to its spring line-up of games developed for QUALCOMM's BREW
solution. Over the next few weeks, Thumbworks will launch several new
BREW-based games featuring some of the most familiar consumer brands,
including Element Surfing(TM) (sponsored by American Honda), Jeep(R) Off-road
Jam, and Tennis by Wilson(R).
Element Surfing is a multi-level action arcade game in which players earn
points by collecting objects and by performing a variety of outrageous tricks.
The game features a number of different beach settings in which players
advance from one level to the next with increasing complexity. To add to the
fun, players can sign up to receive a series of secret codes which can make it
easier to win or introduce variations to game play. A special Web site
(http://www.elementsurfing.com) provides game tips and a nationwide high-scorers
list.
Jeep Off-road Jam is the only wireless game to feature the well-known Jeep
Wrangler. The game requires both speed and precision as players make their
way through three types of terrain (Baja, Rockies, and Beach). The only way
to complete each course before time expires is to gather enough outdoor gear
along the way (which extends the time allotted).
Tennis by Wilson is an entire tennis tournament inside a mobile handset.
As players advance through the tournament bracket, their ratings rise and
"earnings" increase. To win the tournament, one must defeat five opponents,
each one more skillful and highly rated than the previous. Scoring is
identical to traditional tennis.
"We're excited to introduce Honda, Jeep and Wilson to wireless
entertainment," said Craig Holland, president of Thumbworks. "Their commitment
to the medium is further indication of the thriving marketplace. Ultimately,
that can only mean more and better options for consumers."
"Thumbworks continues to bring big brands to BREW-based applications, and
the result is some of the most compelling wireless content available," said
Mike Yuen, director of BREW Developer Relations for QUALCOMM Internet
Services. "Thumbworks was one of the first to recognize the marketing
potential of mobile entertainment, and by developing on the BREW solution, the
company remains on the forefront of the industry."
Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue from BREW-based
applications and content, and 26 manufacturers have offered more than 135
BREW-enabled device models to consumers.
BREW is successfully enabling the commercial wireless data services of
many very successful operators, including Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Cellular
One, MetroPCS, Midwest Wireless and U.S. Cellular in the United States, China
Unicom, KDDI in Japan, KTF in South Korea, Hutch in Thailand, Telstra in
Australia, VIVO in Brazil, BellSouth Chile, BellSouth Colombia, BellSouth
Ecuador, BellSouth Guatemala, BellSouth Nicaragua, BellSouth Panama, BellSouth
Peru, Telefonica Moviles in Peru, Movicom in Argentina, Telcel and Movilnet in
Venezuela, Verizon Dominican Republic, Verizon Wireless Puerto Rico, Pelephone
in Israel and ZappMobile in Romania.
Thumbworks' other successful branded applications include Etch A
Sketch(R), Suzuki(R) Motocross Challenge, and Babe Ruth Bashball(TM). In
addition, they have introduced School of Rock Audition, a derivative of the
Jack Black film, and the just-announced Around the World in 80 Days, based on
the soon-to-be-released film by the same name. A full list of Thumbworks'
application catalog can be viewed at http://www.thumbworks.com.
