LOS ANGELES, May 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- At its inaugural E3
(Electronic Entertainment Expo) press conference, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced
today that it will bring its Nokia N-Gage mobile game deck to major retail
outlets across North America in early October 2003. The Nokia N-Gage game
deck is expected to be sold for $299, and accompanying game cards will be sold
separately ranging from $30 to $40. All prices are manufacturer suggested
retail prices (MSRP).
The game cards and the Nokia N-Gage game deck will initially be available
at Best Buy, Circuit City, Electronics Boutique, GameStop and Target.
"GameStop and its bevy of active gamers are extremely excited about N-
Gage's arrival in the marketplace. It will continue to revolutionize gaming
as we know it," said Dan DeMatteo, President and Chief Operating Officer of
GameStop. "GameStop plans to take pre-orders for N-Gage in anticipation of
the massive interest expected from our customers."
Nokia will announce the availability of the Nokia N-Gage game deck and
game cards at additional major retail outlets, game specialty stores, other
retail outlets, and wireless carrier delivery channels in the coming months.
N-Gage, previously announced in February 2003, is an innovative mobile
game deck that creates an entirely new market for games. Built for hard-core
and active gamers, N-Gage allows for online, mobile, multiplayer (Bluetooth
technology and GPRS) game play with some of today's hottest titles. It
features a high-quality, 3D color graphics with backlight, and eight-way
directional controller (aka the "Rocker") and an ergonomic design optimized
for mobile game play. In addition to its cutting-edge game-playing
capabilities, the Nokia N-Gage mobile game deck also features a digital music
player (MP3/AAC), stereo FM radio, as well as a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900
mobile phone.
