DEDHAM, Mass., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Signet Laboratories, Inc. today
announced the availability of an important new polyclonal antibody specific
for the rodent form of Beta Amyloid protein. Cerebrovascular deposition of
Beta Amyloid protein is a common pathologic event in Alzheimer's disease and
certain related neurodegenerative disorders. Signet's rodent specific beta
amyloid antibody is a highly effective tool for the identification and
measurement of rodent Beta Amyloid.
Alzheimer's is a disease that presently affects over four million people,
a number that is expected to quadruple over the next fifteen years. There is
no known cure and diagnosis can only be confirmed post mortem. "Increasing
use of rodent models for Alzheimer's research created a critical demand for a
product with rodent beta amyloid specificity," said Brent Dorval, PhD, Chief
Technology Officer of Signet. "This antibody will serve as a valuable tool,
allowing researchers to quantify the rodent beta amyloid peptide in
transgenic, knock-out, and wild type models."
