LeapFrog's Visionary Jim Marggraff to Speak on Paper-Based Computing and the
Merging of Learning and Electronic Entertainment
LOS ANGELES, THE EDUCATION ARCADE CONFERENCE, May 13
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LeapFrog Enterprises Inc. (NYSE: LF), a leading
developer of innovative technology-based educational products, today announced
that it is sponsoring the 2005 Education Arcade Conference, a special
conference held in conjunction with the Electronic Entertainment Exposition
(E3).
Additionally, one of LeapFrog's key visionaries, Executive Vice President
of Worldwide Content Jim Marggraff, will be featured as a guest speaker at the
conference on Tuesday, May 17, 2:00 p.m., addressing the topic of paper-based
computing and demonstrating LeapFrog's highly-anticipated new FLY pentop
computer platform.
LeapFrog Sponsorship Supports Dialogue on Games in Education
"We are proud to be sponsoring the second annual Education Arcade
Conference to help lead the substantive efforts to merge the best of learning
with the latest in electronic gaming and entertainment," said LeapFrog's
Marggraff. "LeapFrog is a pioneer in using innovative technology to bring
learning to life -- sparking a new approach to enhanced learning for children
in both homes and schools. We believe a revolution in learning is underway,
and we see tremendous opportunity to help drive and shape this movement to
create even more engaging and productive ways for people to learn and play."
The Education Arcade Conference, in its second year, is organized by MIT
Comparative Media Studies, the MIT Teacher Education Program, and the
University of Wisconsin-Madison with support from the Entertainment Software
Association and E3. The conference aims to foster discussion and collaboration
among academics, designers, and educators interested in how electronic gaming
can enhance learning, culture and education.
Marggraff Speech Includes Exclusive FLY Demo
In his speech during the Education Arcade Conference, Jim Marggraff will
discuss the evolution of paper-based computing and how that led to LeapFrog's
development of the FLY pentop computer platform. This new technology platform
brings computer interactivity to the most prolific and easiest-to-use
interface of all -- pen and paper. Due to hit store shelves in the fall, the
FLY pentop computer is the first consumer electronics device to give users
real-time audio feedback as they write and draw on special FLY paper, making
what they write, really work.
According to Marggraff, "The FLY pentop computer uses intelligent
technology to assist tweens in the mastery of core academic subjects and
provides an entirely new genre of entertainment. We believe the development
opportunities for FLY are significant, rich and deep -- not only for LeapFrog,
but also for third-party developers and academia."
The Education Arcade Conference will be held Sunday, May 15 - Tuesday, May
17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. For more information about the
