Annell R. Bay to Join Marathon Oil Company as Senior Vice President, Exploration

HOUSTON, TX UNITED STATES
    HOUSTON, May 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Marathon Oil Company
announced today that Annell R. Bay will be joining the Company as senior
vice president, Exploration, effective June 23. Bay will succeed Philip G.
Behrman who is currently senior vice president, Exploration and who, as
previously announced, has elected to retire effective July 1.

    Bay has been vice president, Exploration at Shell Exploration and
Production Company since 2004. Prior to that, she worked at Kerr McGee Oil
and Gas Corporation from 1999 until 2004. She was named vice president,
Worldwide Exploration in 2002, and previously became vice president, North
America Exploration, based in Denver, in 2001. She was named exploration
manager, U.S. Onshore in 2000. Bay was with Oryx Energy Company prior to
the merger with Kerr-McGee, and her responsibilities included International
Exploration and South East Asia Exploration. Before joining Oryx in 1988,
Bay held positions of increasing responsibility as an exploration
geologist.

    Bay received a bachelor's degree in geology from Trinity University in
San Antonio and a master's degree in Geology from the University of Texas.

    She serves as a Board Member of the National Ocean Industries
Association, a trustee of the American Geological Institute Foundation, an
Advisory Council Member of the Jackson School of Geology at the University
of Texas at Austin Geology Foundation, and an Advisory Committee Member of
the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin.
Additionally, Bay has been a member of the American Association of
Petroleum Geologists, the Houston Geological Society, and on the Advisory
Committee Board of the Women's Global Leadership Conference.
