Scholastic Unveils Largest Line-Up Ever of Children's Software for 2003

    NEW YORK, May 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- E3 Expo --
Scholastic Inc. (Nasdaq: SCHL), the global children's publishing and media
company, today announced its largest line-up of children's software products
for 2003.  The company will build on its award-winning and best-selling
collection of software with the release of seven new titles, including two
based on the popular children's brands I SPY(TM) and Clifford The Big Red
Dog(R).  The products will be showcased at E3 in meeting room #503, West Hall.
    "While many companies are following the trend of compilations this year,
Scholastic is taking a different approach," said Alan Waldman, Vice President
and General Manager, Scholastic Retail Software.  "We are building our
portfolio by creating original software based on popular licenses."
    In addition to expanding on existing brands and in keeping with
Scholastic's tradition of delivering fun and educational games, the company
has created a new and original brand.  Math Missions, debuting this fall, has
been designed exclusively for software.  Scholastic is also licensing several
popular properties from Sesame Workshop(TM) and Nickelodeon(R).  The 2003
product line demonstrates Scholastic's dedication to enriching children's
lives with exceptional software that is entertaining and good for kids.

    Scholastic's 2003 product line includes:

    Fall 2003
    Math Missions: The Race to Spectacle City Arcade, Grades K-2-Created for
CD-ROMs, Math Missions introduces kids to Spectacle City where outrageous new
characters make learning math fun.  Players build basic math and problem-
solving skills while exploring activity areas throughout the city, from
constructing skyscrapers, to sorting toys at the toy store or counting
different types of candy.  Kids earn money they can use to play games at the
Spectacle City arcade.
    Math Missions: The Amazing Arcade Adventure, Grades 3-5-Children help the
residents of Spectacle City save local businesses from the mischievous Randall
Underling.  Using their math skills to help storeowners, kids earn money to
open and run their own fun-filled arcade.
    Clifford Phonics, Ages 4-6-Featuring the beloved children's character from
the top rated animated TV series, Clifford The Big Red Dog, this game brings
kids to the Birdwell Island Carnival.  Children team up with Clifford and his
friends for fun and adventure as they ride the ferris wheel and cross the
tightrope, while practicing phonics, spelling, and vocabulary skills.
Throughout the game, they win prizes that can be used to decorate a float for
the BIG parade.

    Holidays 2003
    I SPY Fantasy, Ages 6-10-Based on the award-winning I SPY book series,
children explore three fantastical worlds filled with unique characters, fun
games, and challenging I SPY riddles. Children guide their adventures as they
search for lost treasures beneath the sea, command missions on an alien
planet, or invade a castle to defeat the dragon and rescue the princess.
    Nickelodeon Cartoon Creator, Ages 6-11-Kids call the shots as
Nickelodeon's newest cartoon director-creating their own 3-D animated episodes
with characters from their favorite Nickelodeon shows, like SpongeBob
SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron, Rugrats, and Fairly OddParents! While making their
cartoons, kids pick from over 150 characters, backgrounds, and props, record
their own voice-even e-mail their cartoons to friends.

    Dragon Tales(TM): Learn and Fly with Dragons, Ages 4-6-Children team up
with their favorite dragons from the popular Dragon Tales TV series to explore
Dragon Land while developing problem solving and early math skills.
Throughout the adventures, players help the young dragons earn their magical
Dragon Badges and learn to fly.

    Little Bill(TM) Thinks Big, Ages 4-6-Based on the award-winning show
created by Bill Cosby, this CD-ROM invites kids into Little Bill's home to
help him create special surprises for his family.  Players explore the rich
environment, developing early math and thinking skills while launching a
submarine, making cookies, traveling to outer space, and more!

    All titles will be available at retail stores nationwide in a
Windows/Macintosh hybrid for a SRP of $19.95.
