Raytheon to Supply Maryland with Software Engineering Services Under Five-Year Project Valued up to $100 Million

LANDOVER, Md., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has
been awarded a five-year, multi-award task order-based contract valued up to
$100 million from Maryland Technical Services Procurement. The scope of the
contract is to provide the state of Maryland with software engineering
services to support the state's goals of timely and accurate information for
its citizens.
"This contract, providing the full spectrum of information technology (IT)
services including software engineering, will bring on-line advantages to both
companies and individuals," said Mike Smith, business development executive at
Raytheon's Landover facility. The state of Maryland is looking to Raytheon
and its other software engineering vendors to develop systems that deliver
government to the citizens, such as on-line professional licenses, hunting and
fishing licenses, teacher certification, worker's compensation, and social
services.
Raytheon has assembled an exceptional team of companies to support its
Maryland efforts. This team is composed mostly of Maryland software
engineering companies to include seven Minority Business Enterprises (MBE)
certified by the Maryland Department of Transportation. Raytheon will exceed
Maryland's goal of 15 percent minority participation on this contract with the
addition of these MBEs.
Maryland has set forth an aggressive agenda to make 80 percent of its
services and information available to its citizens on-line by 2004. Raytheon
will play a key role in the state's ability to attain this goal through the
implementation of Raytheon's structured engineering methodologies and
expertise in developing large-scale, heterogeneous data systems.
"This contract offers Raytheon's Landover employees the rare opportunity
of developing IT solutions directly impacting the lives of their coworkers and
neighbors," commented Ron Klotz, vice president of Raytheon Information
Technology Systems. Work will be performed at Raytheon's Landover facility
and at government sites in Baltimore and Annapolis, Md.
With headquarters in Lexington, Mass., Raytheon Company is a global
technology leader in defense, government and commercial electronics, and
business and special mission aircraft.
