HOUSTON, May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Reliant Energy announced
today that Rogers Herndon will be joining the company as senior vice
president, commercial operations and origination, effective May 17, 2006.
"Rogers' extensive natural gas and power market experience and his
background in PJM make him an ideal fit for this role," said Joel V. Staff,
Reliant Energy's chairman and chief executive officer. "He will bring a
valuable and unique perspective to the Reliant leadership team."
In this position, Herndon will oversee Reliant's wholesale commercial
operations and origination activities, working closely with plant
operations leadership to achieve the financial and operating goals of the
wholesale business. He will report to Brian Landrum, executive vice
president, operations.
Herndon has 15 years of relevant industry experience. He has held
leadership positions in natural gas and power commercialization, operations
and merchant generation. His most recent experience was directing the
unregulated commercial activities for PSEG Energy Resources and Trade.
Previously, he was responsible for Bank of America's entry into global
electricity markets. Herndon also managed retail supply, natural gas and
power trading activities while at Enron and Dynegy.
Herndon received his bachelor's of arts in economics from Washington
and Lee University and his master's of business administration from the
Wharton School of Business.
