Eric Tien Named President of SEMI Taiwan

              George C.T. Lin to Lead SEMI Global FPD Strategy

    SAN JOSE, Calif., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- SEMI today announced the
appointment of Eric Tien to the position of president of SEMI Taiwan. Tien
will succeed George C.T. Lin who served in the role since joining the
global industry association in 2000. Lin will be more fully dedicated to
responsibilities leading the SEMI flat panel display strategy and remains
in charge of SEMI operations and activities in Singapore. Tien and Lin
report to SEMI president and CEO Stanley Myers.
    Eric Tien assumes full responsibility for SEMI operations in Taiwan and
oversees the association's programs, products and services in the region.
He is responsible for relationships with SEMI members as well as industry,
government and academia in Taiwan. Additionally, he supports SEMI
international programs and serves SEMI members from all regions that have
interests in the Taiwan market. Notable among the major event
responsibilities of the SEMI Taiwan office are the SEMICON Taiwan and FPD
Taiwan expositions, global standards activities and regional member
programs.

presidents in China, Europe, Korea, Japan, North America and Singapore in
guiding our activities in the major markets for microelectronics, display

management, finance, and operations; Eric will be an asset in serving our
members located in, and doing business in Taiwan."
    Tien was previously CEO of Lerado Group, Zhongshan, China. His prior
experience included over 10 years of experience with Acer in various
international management positions including: general manager of Acer Latin
America; senior vice president, Acer Pan America; managing director, Acer
IMEA (India, Middle East, Africa); and vice president and CFO, Acer Europe.
    Prior to his tenure with Acer, Tien served in management and finance
positions with several companies in Taiwan including: ICRT, Jardine Riche
Monde Ltd., and KPMG Peat Marwick,
    Tien holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Department of Public
Finance at National Cheng-chi University, Taipei, Taiwan.
    George Lin, vice president of SEMI Global FPD and President of SEMI
Singapore, will concentrate on developing the association's services
related to display manufacturing technology and continues to oversee SEMI
activities in Singapore, including the SEMICON Singapore exposition.

devote his energies to enhancing products and services for SEMI members
