Schwab Employees Coast to Coast Take to the Streets

  Employees in Nine Cities Spend Tuesday, May 15, Doing Community Service

    SAN FRANCISCO, May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Charles Schwab
Corporation is celebrating its fourth annual employee volunteer day today,
during which approximately 1,400 Schwab employees and executives at the
company's major centers of employment across the country spend a portion of
the day doing hands-on volunteer work in their communities. Called "FERSTT
Aid Day," the name is derived from the acronym representing the corporate
values for which Schwab employees are held accountable in their daily work:
Fairness, Empathy, Responsiveness, Striving, Teamwork, and Trust.
    The cities include Austin; Denver; Indianapolis; New York; Orlando;
Phoenix; Richfield, Ohio; San Francisco; and Raleigh, North Carolina.
Employees will spend approximately 6,000 hours benefiting over 50 nonprofit
and municipal organizations across the U.S. In addition to receiving direct
service from Schwab employees, each of these organizations will also get a
$1,000 grant from Charles Schwab Foundation.
    Among the organizations where employees will volunteer are:

    o  Public elementary and high schools
    o  Humane and animal welfare societies
    o Organizations dedicated to providing health, social and human
services to seniors, children and families
    o  Municipal parks and recreation areas
    o  Community food banks
    o  Boys & Girls Clubs of America
    o  Habitat for Humanity
    o  Easter Seals
    o  Ronald McDonald House Charities
