Washington, DC Economic Partnership Heads to Global Retail Conference to Market Colossal Opportunity in DC

Will Join the Partnership at the International Council of Shopping Centers
RECON Meeting May 18-21 in Las Vegas

WASHINGTON, May 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Even though overall
consumer confidence is down and the country may be headed into a recession,
DC is on a roll with a strong economy fueled by over $60 billion worth of
development projects since 2001. On May 18-21, the Washington, DC Economic
Partnership (WDCEP) heads to the International Council of Shopping Centers
(ICSC) RECON meeting on a massive marketing mission to put this colossal
development activity before the world's retail community.

"Our goal at ICSC will be to demonstrate to retailers that DC is really
going through a huge economic transformation with numerous business
opportunities emerging every day," remarked Keith Sellars, Senior Vice
President, Development & Retail, WDCEP. "The scope and scale of opportunity
is enormous. We will market in detail to the retail community the 6.5
million square feet of available and projected space in neighborhoods
throughout the city," added Sellars.

Each year, over 50,000 retailers, developers, investors, lenders,
municipalities and economic development organizations from all corners of
the world attend the retail real estate industry's biggest conference of
the year to network and make deals. Celebrating ten years of attending
ICSC, the District delegation's goal each year is to attract more retail to
the city's neighborhoods. This year Mayor Adrian Fenty, Deputy Mayor for
Planning and Economic Development Neil Albert and several councilmembers
will join WDCEP in meeting with retailers and developers.

"As the nation teeters on a recession and consumer confidence wanes, DC
continues to enjoy a robust economy strengthened by steady job growth and
unprecedented development," said Steve Moore, President & CEO, WDCEP. "The
District heads to ICSC's biggest retail conference of the year, as a
well-heeled city poised for future growth," added Moore.

More than 39 national retail stores have opened in DC over the past 10
years.

WDCEP will unveil the 2008 Neighborhood Retail Opportunities book at
the ICSC RECON meeting. This user-friendly 112 page guide provides local
and national businesses with in depth market research on 234 available
sites throughout neighborhoods in DC. The book may be downloaded from
http://www.wdcep.com and is available at the Deputy Mayor for Economic Planning
and Development's office and WDCEP partnering organizations.

The Washington, DC Economic Partnership's exhibit booth number is
N-0334, where all of the District's development projects and retail
opportunities will be featured as well as the first copies of the
Neighborhood Retail Opportunities guide. In 2007 at the ICSC conference,
the District delegation conducted 61 meetings with retailers and developers
interested in opening or expanding stores in DC. This year, the city is
aiming for 65 meetings with retailers.
