LOS ANGELES, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Gigex, Inc., a leading outsourced ASP
used for launch and distribution of high quality game demos on the Internet,
today announced the launch of GigexTV, a new service to distribute high
quality console game trailers across the Internet.
The new service provides users several channels of DVD-quality; full
screen trailers that download in the background then play from the PC disk.
The service already has 20,000 satisfied beta users and will be introduced to
the public at the Los Angeles E3 trade show at Gigex's booth 6957 in Kentia
Hall and on http://www.gigex.com.
GigexTV delivers and plays console trailers for Sony PlayStation One and
PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo GameCube and highlights the quality
of next generation consoles' superior graphics and audio. Focus groups have
rated GigexTV far superior to any existing streaming trailer service. GigexTV
will soon be available from Gigex's network of 50 affiliated sites including
Yahoo! Games, Excite, Stuff Magazine, The Source and many others.
GigexTV is hosted by virtual gaming personality, Gina Anderson
(gina@gigex.com), who highlights the newest products in different categories.
GigexTV features include non-intrusive delivery of trailers, tracking and
distribution data for each product, real time demand graphs, follow up email
and product-specific links to retail and pre-order sites. GigexTV can be
viewed anytime from a PC, either online or offline. GigexTV is sponsored by
both game publishers and retailers who want added distribution of their
highest quality promotional content.
"GigexTV solves a major issue for console publishers; how to distribute
high quality, full screen promotional trailers on the Internet without
sacrificing the exquisite graphics the make console games special," said Gigex
CEO Mark Friedler. "Lower quality preview services do not excite customers.
We all know that trailer previews are very successful at driving sales. All
major retailers have console trailers playing in store. There are over
100 million Internet connected PCs. The question for us is how to leverage
this installed base so end users can experience this "in-store quality" of
console trailers on their PCs without the technical and quality degradation
commonly experience with streaming. GigexTV solves those issues in a very
easy to use service. It will be a tool to help publishers and retailers grow
sales volume of next generation games."
