Associated Estates Realty Corporation Appoints Vice President of Operations and Regional Vice President

CLEVELAND, OH UNITED STATES
    CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Associated Estates
Realty Corporation (NYSE: AEC) announced today that Beth L. Stoll has been
appointed to the newly created position of Vice President of Operations,
and Miria C. Rabideau has been appointed Regional Vice President.

    Stoll joined the Company in 2004 as a Regional Vice President. She has
over 20 years of property management experience, including previous
employment with The Shelter Group, Amli Residential, and Trammel Crow.
Stoll is based in Atlanta and will continue to oversee the Company's
portfolios in Central Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, and Maryland.
    She is also responsible for the AEC Academy for Career Development,
which was recently formed to replace the Company's National Training
Department.
    Rabideau joined AEC in 1994 as a Property Manager and was promoted to
Regional Manager in 2003. She is based in Michigan and will oversee a
regional portfolio that includes Michigan and Northwest Ohio. She has a
Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and was honored
by the Property Management Association of Michigan in 2004 and 2005 as the
"Regional Manager of the Year."
    Stoll and Rabideau will report to John T. Shannon, Senior Vice
President of Operations.
