NEW YORK, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Announcement was made today by the
firm of Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman LLP that Steven Schulman, a name
partner, has made known his decision to take a leave of absence. Mr.
Schulman joined the firm in 1986 as an associate and rose to be a senior
partner and then name partner. He is recognized nationally for his
assertive prosecution of a wide variety of securities fraud class actions
and shareholder derivative actions and for his vigorous efforts to curb
corporate malfeasance. Perhaps most noteworthy among Mr. Schulman's
significant recent cases is the landmark In re Walt Disney Derivative
Litigation in which he served as lead trial counsel and which helped to
redefine the fiduciary duties of directors and in public companies. He also
served as lead counsel In re MicroStrategy, Inc. Securities Litigation
(E.D.Va.), which settled for an amount in excess of $150 million.
Early in his career, Mr. Schulman served as a law clerk to the
Honorable Robert L. Kunzig of the United States Court of Claims in
Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Milberg Weiss, Mr. Schulman was an
associate in Cravath, Swaine & Moore's New York office.
Mr. Schulman, who is a frequent lecturer and legal education panelist,
has written extensively on the subject of securities and shareholder
litigation. He is also a Presidential level member of the Association of
Trial Lawyers and a Sustaining Fellow in the Roscoe Pound Institute. His
leave of absence will allow him to focus on defending against the
allegations about him that have been reported in the media.
