Bayer Health Care Partners Launches Web Site, A First in the Health Care Industry

WEST HAVEN, Conn., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Through the Internet, customers
of Bayer Health Care Partners (BHCP), a unit of Bayer Corporation (Bayer),
will be able to track their savings on certain health care products and
services, a first in the industry which will benefit some of the nation's
largest hospital and health care system alliances.
This unusual feature is part of the new Bayer Health Care Partners web
site, http://www.bhcp.com. A formal introduction of the site will be made at the
Premier Annual Conference and Business Partner Exhibition 2000 in Atlanta,
May 17-19.
"No other company in our industry is giving its customers this kind of
financial information," said Len LaBonia, vice president and head of Bayer
Health Care Partners, adding, "This effort demonstrates our willingness to
share business and purchasing strategies and information for mutual benefit.
It's essential to the continuing success of our partnerships and alliances."
Through password-protected access to a private area of the web site,
BHCP's purchasing partners will be able to monitor a variety of measurements
related to their purchasing agreements with BHCP. The financial "report card"
is designed to inform executives about systems-wide use of incentives and
aggregate purchasing power to control costs. "It's a convenient, efficient
way to show the bottom-line results of our customer-supplier alliances," noted
Mr. LaBonia.
In addition, the web site provides all Internet visitors with access to a
variety of information about BHCP, including news, articles and the corporate
catalog of the BHCP health care products and services portfolio. The site
also provides a single portal to all other Bayer and alliance partners web
sites.
