Actual Cast Members, Lavish 3D Environments and Intense Challenges Highlight
Eagerly Anticipated Game
E3, LOS ANGELES, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Delivering the globally popular
television series Survivor(TM) to a new medium, WizardWorks, a division of
Infogrames, Inc. (Nasdaq: IFGM) and CBS Consumer Products have announced
Survivor: The Australian Outback Interactive Game for the PC. The first
release in a new line of interactive games recently announced by
Infogrames, Inc., Survivor: The Australian Outback Interactive Game is being
developed by Magic Lantern Playware, a creative business unit of
Gold Creek Technology. Slated for release in Fall 2001, the game features the
real-life cast from the Survivor television series, in-depth character
interaction, immunity challenges, tribal councils and other exciting elements
from the show.
"Survivor: The Australian Outback Interactive Game will allow millions of
loyal fans to simulate the exciting Survivor experience through both single
and multi-player games," said Paul Rinde, senior vice president and general
manager of WizardWorks. "From forming alliances to competing in reward and
immunity challenges, players will be chartered with a host of tasks that will
test their strategies and mental acuity."
"Infogrames has a successful history in developing award-winning products
that appeal to a broad demographic, " said Kenneth Ross, Vice President and
General Manager, CBS Consumer Products. "We're confident that the Survivor
brand will benefit from their expertise, and are excited to bring this
extraordinarily popular television series into the interactive game publishing
arena."
In Survivor: The Australian Outback Interactive Game for the PC, players
choose any of the survivors from the second season, or create their own
character. When creating a character, players must allocate points across
10 different skill categories, which include strength, cooking, communication,
swimming, aggression and intelligence. The strategies deployed must
complement the skill sets of a player, as they will greatly impact the
player's ability to survive both tribal council and nature's elements.
Once the game begins, each player chooses a role or task to complete, such
as cook, hunter/fisherman or water carrier. The roles played will affect
player standing within the group, and can either hurt or help when tribal
council arrives. At tribal council, players will get the opportunity to vote
off other remaining survivors and experience all of the rituals featured in
the television series.
Forming alliances and keeping strong relationships are crucial to
achieving victory. From the character screen, players can view their feelings
and alliances with each of the other members ranging from weak to neutral to
strong, and manage them accordingly. In addition to performing basic survival
tasks and managing relationships, players of Survivor(TM): The Australian
Outback Interactive Game are challenged to participate in exciting
competitions for rewards and immunity, such as Fire and Rain, and Crocodile
Walkabout.
Under terms of the previously announced agreement with CBS Consumer
Products, Infogrames, Inc. acquired the exclusive rights to develop and
publish interactive games based on the Survivor television series in the
United States and Canada for PC and Mac, as well as current and
next-generation console platforms, including handheld systems.
