Eye-Trek Glasses Bring Gamers Closer to the Action
LOS ANGELES, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Olympus America, a leading consumer
electronics manufacturer, announced today the world's first Face Mount Display
(FMD) designed for use with the Sony PlayStation(R) 2, the Eye-Trek FMD-20P.
The Eye-Trek FMD-20P connects directly to Sony PlayStation 2 to make games and
DVDs a more realistic, powerful, theater-like experience.
Eye-Trek is a personal display that gives the viewer a big-screen impact
with the light and easy feel of wearing a pair of sunglasses. The big screen
experience is like a 52-inch screen viewed from 6-1/2 feet away -- bringing
gaming to a whole new personal level. Developed for use with Sony
PlayStation 2, The FMD-20P features the world's lightest display of 3 ounces;
stereo sound for more realistic play; 180,000-pixel image resolution and
cutting edge optical technology for a clearer, bright display; all built into
a sophisticated and comfortable design.
With the Eye-Trek 20P you will no longer play games, you'll feel them.
It's perfect for gamers wishing hours of uninterrupted theater-like immersion
and realism in a totally private environment. The Eye-Trek 20P is exclusively
for use with Sony PlayStation 2 and cannot be used with any other game
consoles.
Eye-Trek FMD-20P Features:
Direct Connectivity with Sony PlayStation 2
The FMD-20P can connect to Sony PlayStation 2's AV MULTI OUT connector,
enabling transmission of audio and video signals through a USB connector.
Standard Screen Equivalent to a 52-inch TV
The FMD-20P produces the effect of a wide screen equivalent to a 52-inch
television viewed from 6-1/2 feet away.
High Image Quality
The audio and video signal uses a component input (Y, Cb, Cr) with high
resolution and strong color reproduction, producing a higher picture quality
than the S-video input.
Improved Portability with Reduced Weight and Size
The display unit is more compact and lightweight at 3 ounces. Focusing on
functionality and design, the control is also ultra-compact and lightweight at
2.6 ounces.
Optical Technology produces sharp & bright images all the way to the
corners of the screen
-- High accuracy free-shaped prism is a cutting edge technology developed
by Olympus that achieves clear images with few distortions using
"asymmetric" and "free curve" optics.
-- High performance optical filter: A filter produces an even smoother
image and makes the pixels invisible.
Stereo Sound
Sophisticated Surround Sound audio is provided for the ultimate audio and
visual experience.
See-around Design
Permits wearers to maintain peripheral vision while totally submerged in
the gaming experience. The innovative design allows wearers to use Eye-Trek
privately without disturbing others.
World's Lightest Display
At 3 ounces, the Eye-Trek FMD-20P's display is made comfortable for
extended gaming.
Additional Features
Additional features include stereo, a safety-security password, and image
controls to adjust color, and brightness.
The Eye-Trek FMD-20P will be available mid July 2001 for a suggested
retail price of $399.00. For more information, including photos of Eye-Trek
