Stuntman for PlayStation 2 Creates New Action Genre
E3, LOS ANGELES, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- (Electronic Entertainment Expo,
Booth #824) With an unprecedented record of creating million-plus selling
games, Reflections Interactive, an internal development studio of
Infogrames, Inc. (Nasdaq: IFGM), reveals for the first time, details about its
highly anticipated new game, Stuntman. In development for the Sony
PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system, Stuntman is making its debut at
E3 this week and is planned for a spring 2002 ship date.
"With the development expertise and the tremendous popularity of games
developed by Reflections, the excitement and anticipation for Stuntman is
already building," said Tom Richardson, director of marketing for Infogrames'
Los Angeles Label. "The early excitement certainly underscores our belief
that Stuntman is a cornerstone property with which we hope to build into a
global franchise."
In Stuntman, players assume the role of a Hollywood Stuntman hired to
perform stunts for a variety of films. From movie to movie, the stunts get
progressively harder and players will need to accumulate skills to progress
their career from low-budget productions to multi-million dollar Hollywood
blockbusters. Each stunt consists of a series of clearly defined objectives,
which can range from 180- degree spins, to perfectly timed jumps, dramatic
barrel rolls and T-bone smashes. In order to succeed, the player must achieve
all or some of each scene's set objectives.
"Stuntman represents another Reflections-style twist on driving games as
Driver and Destruction Derby did in earlier years," said Martin Edmondson,
founder and managing director of Reflections Interactive. "By fully utilizing
the power of the PlayStation 2, the game takes some of the realistic dynamics
and car smashes we are well known for, to new, extreme levels."
Working with Reflections on game development as a technical consultant is
Vic Armstrong, real-life stuntman who has worked on more than 250 movies
around the world. As an Action Unit Director and Stunt Coordinator, his
creative vision has lent itself to films created by some of the most prominent
directors in the industry, including Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott,
George Lucas and Martin Scorsese.
Armstrong's extensive body of work includes films of all genres, including
Empire of the Sun, Terminator 2, Return of the Jedi, Bladerunner,
Starship Troopers, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Charlie's Angels, to name just a
few.
Additional exciting features of Stuntman include:
-- Awesome number of vehicles to drive, film and smash;
-- Fantastic rendered cut-scenes from each movie;
-- Players can watch their own movie trailer that they create;
-- Six different locations based on blockbuster film sets;
-- Two game modes include Story and Arcade;
-- Collect bonus items such as ramps and explosives to build into your own
Stunt Arena;
-- Photo-realistic graphics and environments;
