Enroute Granted Third-Party Developer Status By Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

Company Now Offers PlayStation 2 Title Development

LOS ANGELES, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Palo Alto-based Enroute today
announced that it has been granted Third Party Developer status by Sony
Computer Entertainment Inc., allowing the company to further leverage its
existing PlayStation(R)2 programming capabilities to developing new titles for
the entertainment console. This announcement follows Enroute joining the
Tools and Middleware program in October 2000, and later announcing to
developers the availability of their FirstPerson(TM) SDK for the
PlayStation 2.
"Our FirstPerson Immersive Video toolkit, announced last fall, clearly
demonstrated our ability to harness the full processing power of the
PlayStation 2," said Paul Cha, co-founder and Executive Vice President of
Enroute. "Now with our newly-granted Third Party Developer status we can
apply our programming expertise to work with any party seeking to develop new
entertainment titles."
Enroute's FirstPerson is a viable entertainment format for immersive
video. The company's technology is the first to deliver 360-degree navigable
video that runs at 30 fps and plays at broadcast-quality resolution.
Enroute's proprietary FirstPerson system captures and seamlessly combines
multiple video streams to create 360-degree video that can be manipulated in
playback. These videos create an entirely new immersive viewing experience,
giving users the freedom to navigate the camera, zoom in and zoom out of
scenes and dictate point-of-view within a cylindrical environment.
Enroute announced Britney Spears as the first artist to participate in a
FirstPerson project, unveiling FirstPerson immersive video of the performer in
concert, at a press conference held this morning at the Electronic
Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles. The company will be demonstrating its
services and capabilities, as well as showcasing the Spears video, at its
exhibit in booth #6609 in Kentia Hall at E3, held May 16-18 at the Los Angeles
Convention Center.
