Forty-Two Year Old Program Salutes Employees who Balance Work and Studies
MELROSE PARK, Ill., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Jewel-Osco announced today the
62 winners of the annual Jewel-Osco scholarships. Now in its 42nd consecutive
year, the joint Jewel and Osco program will award nearly $60,000 in
scholarships this year.
Through the program, Jewel-Osco awards $500 or $1,000 scholarships to
recipients pursuing higher educational degrees. Osco Drug also awards two
additional $5,000 scholarships to pharmacy students.
Recipients were nominated by their Jewel-Osco managers for extraordinary
job performance, community involvement, academic achievement, school
involvement and leadership. A four-person scholarship committee made up of
local academics and Jewel-Osco executives chose the winners.
In 1970, current Jewel-Osco President Greg Josefowicz received a Jewel
scholarship for his academic achievement, community involvement and
leadership.
"Jewel-Osco is proud to honor 62 of our most talented and promising
