CNET Networks' GameSpot Brings Online Gamers to E3 With Comprehensive Webcast Coverage

    SAN FRANCISCO, May 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
CNET Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNET) announced that its GameSpot Web site
(http://www.gamespot.com), the leading online gaming site, will today launch its
comprehensive coverage of this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3),
beginning with live Webcast coverage of the highly anticipated pre-show press
conferences by industry leaders Microsoft and Capcom, and followed tomorrow by
Sony and Nintendo.
Throughout the week, GameSpot users can view live video broadcasts of the
latest breaking E3 news, as covered by GameSpot editors from their booth on
the show floor. In addition to extensive video coverage of key events,
interviews, and booth tours, GameSpot will provide up-to-the-minute reports,
product previews, screen shots, and more, all created to give GameSpot users
the closest experience to being live on the E3 show floor.
"GameSpot's traffic jumped nearly 50% during last year's show," states Joe
Fielder, site director of CNET Networks' GameSpot. "Our simultaneous viewers
doubled during last year's Webcasts, and our average streams per day were
10 times higher than usual. These numbers are a testament of the importance of
E3 to GameSpot's four million unique monthly users, and with this year's more
extensive video coverage, we expect even better results."
Scheduled to run from tomorrow until Friday, May 24, at the Los Angeles
Convention Center, E3 is the premier interactive entertainment and gaming
event for industry players, providing them with trend-spotting and an advance
look at what the hottest gaming products will be during this year's holiday
season. The show's conference program brings together key industry
professionals to share ideas and strategies via workshops and panel
discussions. GameSpot co-founder and senior vice president of Consumer Media
for CNET, Vince Broady, will moderate this year's panel discussing the
changing face of game retail on Wednesday, May 22, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. PT.
