Immunex Promotes Carl March, Ph.D. to Senior Vice President

    Strategically Aligning Information Technology and Biochemical Sciences

    SEATTLE, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Immunex Corporation (Nasdaq: IMNX)
announced today that Carl March, Ph.D. has been promoted to senior vice
president, information technology and biochemical sciences.  This is a
promotion from his current position of vice president of biochemical sciences.
    In addition to his leadership responsibilities for biochemical sciences,
Dr. March, 48, will take on responsibility for applying information technology
to basic science and business process management.
    "Carl has demonstrated vision and passion for the application of
information technology to basic science," said Doug Williams, executive vice
president and chief technology officer.  "In addition to his deep knowledge of
Immunex science he has established his leadership in exploiting the burgeoning
scientific opportunities and moving drug discoveries from the bench to the
marketplace."
    Dr. March received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Purdue University in 1980.
Following his postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in 1983,
he joined Immunex as an associate staff scientist.
