PITTSBURGH, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- PENNDOT, in efforts to continually
provide opportunities for motorists to offer feedback, has developed a survey
regarding the closing of the outbound lanes of the Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel
and this year's completion of the region's largest road construction project.
"Six months ago we asked motorists what they wanted to know regarding the
closing of the bridge and tunnel," said Dick Skrinjar, PENNDOT deputy press
secretary. "Now, we want to know how we did and how the closing has affected
their commutes."
On the site, motorists have the opportunity to answer specific questions
regarding the designed detour routes, commuting changes they have made and how
effective the communication was leading up to the closing. Results of the
survey will be released June 10, 2002.
The outbound lanes of the Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel are closed for
reconstruction. The $84.2 million project being completed by Trumbull
Corporation includes a new bridge deck and repainted bridge structure along
with a new, wider tunnel road surface and increased tunnel height. The bridge
and tunnel are scheduled to re-open August 31, 2002.
