Mahoney continued, "Our lead drug, SLx-2101, is a rapid onset, potent
long acting PDE5 inhibitor that has been developed for both acute and
chronic cardiovascular indications. Preliminary data from our Phase IIa
trial study shows that this drug is working at 48 hours after a single oral
dose of 10mg. The rapid onset and long duration of SLx-2101 suggests that
it could well become the new gold standard for treating PDE-5 related
disorders. Our second compound, SLx-4090 is a novel Microsomal Triglyceride
Transfer Protein (MTP) inhibitor being developed for the treatment of
dyslipidemia and obesity. We designed SLx-4090 using our proprietary
platform to act specifically in the enterocytes, cells that line the GI
tract, to prevent the transport of triglycerides through the intestinal
wall. SLx-4090 is currently in a Phase I trial and preliminary data
indicate the compound is safe, well-tolerated and acting preferentially in
the gut thereby lowering post-meal triglyceride levels in normal healthy
volunteers."
