CHICAGO, May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Grainger, North America's
leading industrial supplier of products used by businesses to maintain, repair
and operate their facilities, is donating 50 movable platforms to the Downtown
Racine Corp. (DRC) for its Dog Days of Summer exhibit. Several pieces of
artwork from the exhibit have been vandalized in recent weeks. Grainger will
present the moving platforms to Mayor Jim Smith and Kathy Hansen, executive
director at the Downtown Racine Corp., at a special ceremony on Friday, May
24, at 10:30 a.m. CDT, at the Grainger branch located at 3711 S. Memorial Dr.,
in Racine, Wis.
The DRC now will be able to move the artwork to secure locations at night,
thereby helping preserve the exhibit. The artwork will be auctioned off at
the end of the summer and all proceeds will be divided equally between the DRC
and the Racine Art Museum.
Mayor Smith and a representative from the DRC visited the Grainger branch
in Racine earlier in the week searching for a solution that would help protect
the Dog Days of Summer exhibit from vandals. Grainger worked with Mayor Smith
and the DRC to identify a solution from its vast inventory of over 500,000
products and to deliver the needed supplies quickly.
"We would like to thank the Grainger team for their help in preserving the
Dog Days of Summer exhibit," said Kathy Hansen, executive director at the
Downtown Racine Corp. "They assisted us in finding a solution and helped us
get what we needed quickly to safeguard the exhibit."
"We are happy to help Mayor Smith and the DRC preserve the Dog Days of
Summer exhibit," said Amy Rose-Offord, Grainger's branch manager in Racine.
"We are committed to making a positive difference in the community and we hope
this donation will allow our neighbors in Racine to continue to enjoy the
exhibit this summer."
