Bank Employees Among Participants in Habitat for Humanity's 2008 Jimmy and
Rosalynn Carter Work Project
ATLANTA, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Employees from the Federal Home Loan
Bank of Atlanta volunteered alongside former U.S. President and Nobel Peace
Prize laureate Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn in last week's 25th
annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, hosted by Habitat for
Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. FHLBank Atlanta joined thousands of
corporate and independent volunteers as part of The 2008 Carter Work
Project which will continue to build and rehabilitate 250 homes in the host
cities of Biloxi, Gulfport and Pascagoula, Mississippi throughout the year.

This year's project marked the continuation of Habitat's recovery
effort in the Gulf Coast -- an effort that FHLBank Atlanta helped with in
2006 when employees worked to complete the 500th Katrina recovery house in
Mobile, Alabama.
In total, more than 20 houses were built or repaired during the
weeklong build out, contributing to the 250 total homes that The 2008
Carter Work Project has slated for completion nationwide by the end of the
year. Benefiting families will pay a no-profit mortgage for the homes, with
mortgage payments recycled to build even more simple, decent and affordable
housing in these communities.
FHLBank Atlanta has worked with Habitat for Humanity since 1997 and,
along with the eleven other Federal Home Loan Banks, is the largest
contributor to Habitat affiliates -- having helped to fund one out of every
four homes built. "The missions of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta
and Habitat for Humanity are in perfect alignment -- both help provide
decent and affordable housing opportunities to families in need. It is an
honor to have represented FHLBank Atlanta at this year's 25th annual Carter
Project," said Chris McEntee, chairman of the Bank's Community Involvement
Committee.
