Geoworks Corporation (Nasdaq: GWRX), a leading innovator in mobile data
communications services and technologies, today announced the promotion of
Timothy Toppin from Controller to Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
(CFO). Geoworks' former CFO, Steve Baker, today assumed the role of President
and Chief Operating Officer, while Dave Grannan will retain the position of
Chief Executive Officer.
As CFO, Toppin will manage corporate finance, accounting operations, the
IT organizations and will act as the Geoworks' primary liaison with the
investment community. In his prior position as Geoworks' Controller, Toppin
played a fundamental role in establishing and implementing the company's solid
financial model.

Before joining Geoworks, Toppin served as Controller at Digital Generation
Systems, a provider of digital media distribution services to the broadcast
and advertising industries. In this position, he played a major role in
driving key company acquisitions and executing Digital Generation Systems'
Initial Public Offering. Toppin has also held financial management and
accounting positions at BEI Electronics, Inc., Zinnanti Surgical Instruments
and Deloitte Haskins & Sells. Toppin holds a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration from the University of California at Berkeley and is a
Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.
