"The feedback from developers on our approach to making the Environmental
Audio Extensions open and accessible to all has been highly enthusiastic,"
said George Thorn, director of developer relations at Creative. "We are
getting tremendous support from the development community for Environmental
Audio -- this is a great opportunity for developers to provide far more
compelling content with 3D audio realism to consumers."
"We wholeheartedly support Creative Labs' efforts to bring high-quality
audio to Windows users through exciting games like those on display at the
Electronic Entertainment Expo," said Kevin Bachus, product manager for DirectX
at Microsoft Corp. "By extending Microsoft's DirectSound3D API with its own
Environmental Audio Extensions, Creative's industry-leading work is making it
easy for developers to include a new level of audio realism in their games.
This means that consumers will soon have access to a broad offering of new and
exciting 3D audio entertainment titles."
