Ready2000 Uses RQE In Independent Verification System That Evaluates Year 2000

BILLERICA, Mass., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Peritus Software Services, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PTUS) and AverStar, Inc., today announced an agreement to allow
AverStar's Intermetrics subsidiary to integrate the Peritus RQE technology
with the Intermetrics evaluation process to provide an independent quality
evaluation of Year 2000 renovated COBOL applications. AverStar will combine
the Peritus tools with its own expertise in operational software assurance as
part of the Ready2000 Service. Ready2000 provides customers with secure and
proven Year 2000 test and renovation evaluation services regardless of what
tool or strategy was used to renovate software applications.
AverStar selected the Peritus RQE technology because it offers very high
accuracy in the identification of date-sensitive items in applications. The
RQE technology uses "knowledge propagation" to follow the movement of date-
sensitive items and identifies them from their use and formats, rather
than from their names. The AverStar expertise coupled with the advanced RQE
technology, provides organizations with a means for saving time and money on
the evaluation phase of Year 2000 projects.
