New Levels of Audio Realism Achieved with Creative's Environmental Audio
Extensions for Direct Sound 3D
ATLANTA, ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO (E3), May 27 /PRNewswire/ --
Creative Labs, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREAF), the leading provider of multimedia
hardware for the PC, today announced GT Interactive Software Corp.
(Nasdaq: GTIS) will be shipping Unreal, its highly-anticipated game created by
Epic MegaGames and Digital Extremes, with support for Creative's Environmental
Audio Platform. Unreal, the widely-acclaimed 3D action/adventure PC game
utilizes Creative's Environmental Audio Extensions (EAX) to DirectSound 3D for
outstanding 3D audio realism. Environmental Audio Extensions add powerful
effects that can include reverb, echo, acoustic properties for room size and
many other effects that place the gameplayer in the middle of the action. EAX
goes beyond 3D positional audio to create actual interactive environments in
real time that deliver an action-packed realistic experience.
"The ability to generate true-to-life audio experiences with Environmental
Audio adds a higher degree of intensity to Unreal," said Mark Rein, vice
president of Epic MegaGames. "Were glad to see Creative taking the lead and
making it easy to incorporate support for this exciting new audio experience
and making it more accessible through the DirectSound APIs."
"We are amazed at how easy it was to include support for Environmental
Audio effects that make playing Unreal a phenomenal experience," added Rein.
